Green Homes Wales (GHW) is a Welsh Government initiative, administered by the Development Bank of Wales, designed to help homeowners across Wales make their homes more energy-efficient through:
- Fully funded expert support via a PAS 2035‑registered Retrofit Coordinator, who delivers a tailored home assessment and decarbonisation roadmap for your home.
- Interest‑free loans ranging from £1,000–£25,000, repayable up to 10 years—with a 6‑month repayment holiday to let early savings offset costs
- Additional grant funding for eligible energy-saving upgrades, reducing their out-of-pocket expenses
Eligibility Criteria for your Green Homes Wales Grant
Applicants must:
- Own and live in their own home as their main residence in Wales
- Pass standard credit and affordability checks (no means testing)
- Have a property that is not a new build, listed building, or landlord-owned property
Supported Measures under the Green Homes Wales Grant
Green Homes Wales can support a wide range of upgrades, including:
- Heating systems: air or ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers, high-heat retention heaters
- Renewables: solar PV (with battery/storage), solar thermal and hybrid solar systems
- Home fabric: roof, floor, cavity or solid wall insulation; high-performance glazing; draught-proofing
- Smart or standard heating controls
