Introduction
Net Zero Gurus Limited is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically, transparently and with appropriate care when working with employees, contractors, suppliers, clients and delivery partners.
This statement sets out the steps taken by Net Zero Gurus Limited to understand, assess and manage the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains.
Our Organisation, Business and Supply Chains
Net Zero Gurus Limited is a retrofit consultancy and compliance business based in Liverpool, Merseyside. The company provides services connected with domestic energy efficiency, retrofit assessment, retrofit coordination, PAS 2030/PAS 2035 compliance support, quality monitoring, evidence review, technical consultancy and wider support for government-funded energy efficiency and retrofit programmes.
The business is led by its Director and supported by staff, consultants and subcontracted professionals where required. Our work may involve engagement with councils, housing associations, installers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, accreditation and certification bodies, software providers, training providers and professional advisers.
Our supply chains are primarily UK-based and include professional services, IT and software systems, compliance and certification support, training, insurance, office administration services, subcontracted retrofit or energy assessment support, and suppliers or partners connected to retrofit project delivery. Where products or materials are specified, installed or reviewed as part of wider retrofit projects, those products may have longer supply chains outside the direct control of Net Zero Gurus Limited.
Our Commitment
- Ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking do not take place within our business or, so far as reasonably practicable, within our supply chains.
- Promoting transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in all business relationships.
- Working only with suppliers, subcontractors and partners who are expected to comply with applicable employment, labour, health and safety, anti-bribery and anti-slavery laws.
- Taking proportionate action where concerns are identified, including supplier engagement, corrective action or termination of a relationship where appropriate.
Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking
Net Zero Gurus Limited maintains and applies policies and procedures that support ethical working practices and reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking. These include:
- Supplier Code of Conduct, setting out expectations for suppliers and subcontractors regarding lawful employment, fair treatment, anti-slavery compliance and ethical behaviour.
- Recruitment and right-to-work checks, to ensure that workers engaged by the business have the right to work and are engaged on appropriate terms.
- Whistleblowing and reporting arrangements, allowing concerns to be raised internally without fear of retaliation.
- Subcontractor and supplier onboarding checks, including review of business identity, insurance, competence, quality standards and modern slavery expectations where relevant.
- Health, safety, quality and compliance procedures, which support proper supervision, documentation and accountability across work activities.
Due Diligence Processes
Our due diligence processes are proportionate to the size and nature of our business and the level of risk presented by the supplier, subcontractor or project. They may include:
- Assessing suppliers and subcontractors before engagement, including review of their competence, insurance, accreditations, capacity and compliance expectations.
- Requesting modern slavery statements, policies or declarations from higher-risk suppliers, subcontractors or delivery partners where appropriate.
- Including modern slavery expectations in supplier, subcontractor and partner communications where relevant.
- Reviewing project delivery arrangements where labour, subcontracting or wider supply chain involvement may create additional risk.
- Investigating any concern raised by staff, clients, subcontractors, suppliers or third parties.
- Taking corrective action where concerns are identified, including increased monitoring, supplier engagement or discontinuing the relationship where necessary.
Risk Assessment and Risk Management
Net Zero Gurus Limited considers the risk of modern slavery in its direct office-based consultancy operations to be low. However, we recognise that risk can increase in wider supply chains and project delivery environments, particularly where subcontracted labour, temporary labour, low-paid labour, agency workers, complex supply chains or overseas-manufactured products are involved.
The areas of our business and supply chains where risk may arise include:
- Subcontracted surveying, assessment, technical or site-based support where work is delivered by individuals outside direct employment.
- Installers, contractors and delivery partners involved in retrofit works, especially where they use subcontract labour or temporary labour.
- Manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of products used in retrofit projects where goods may pass through wider UK or international supply chains.
- Cleaning, facilities, office support, logistics or other lower-paid service categories where exploitation risk can be higher across the wider economy.
- Any supplier or subcontractor operating without clear employment practices, supervision, insurance, competence evidence or compliance documentation.
We manage these risks by applying proportionate supplier checks, requiring appropriate documentation, maintaining clear reporting channels, reviewing supplier behaviour, promoting ethical expectations, and taking action where concerns are raised or identified.
Measuring Effectiveness
Net Zero Gurus Limited monitors the effectiveness of its approach through practical performance indicators that are appropriate to the size, structure and risk profile of the business. These indicators may include:
| Performance indicator | Target / expectation | Review method |
| Supplier and subcontractor screening | Relevant new suppliers and subcontractors are checked before engagement. | Onboarding records and management review. |
| Modern slavery concerns raised | All concerns are recorded, reviewed and acted upon. | Incident log and director review. |
| Training and awareness | Staff and relevant subcontractors are made aware of how to identify and report concerns. | Training records, briefings or toolbox communications. |
| Higher-risk supplier review | Higher-risk suppliers or delivery partners are reviewed in more detail where reasonably required. | Supplier review notes, declarations or compliance records. |
| Corrective action | Any identified issue leads to appropriate corrective action. | Corrective action records and follow-up review. |
Training and Capacity Building
Net Zero Gurus Limited provides modern slavery awareness appropriate to the role and level of risk. Staff are expected to understand what modern slavery and human trafficking are, how warning signs may present in business and supply chain activity, and how to report concerns.
Training and capacity building may include induction guidance, periodic awareness briefings, supplier or subcontractor discussions, review of reporting routes and reminders during supplier onboarding or project mobilisation where appropriate.
Reporting Concerns
Any staff member, subcontractor, supplier, client or third party who has a concern about modern slavery or human trafficking connected with Net Zero Gurus Limited, its suppliers or its project activity should report the concern to a Director of Net Zero Gurus Limited as soon as possible. Concerns will be treated seriously and reviewed promptly.
Where a person may be at immediate risk of harm, the matter should be reported to the police or relevant emergency authorities. Where appropriate, Net Zero Gurus Limited will also cooperate with clients, regulators, law enforcement, local authorities or other relevant bodies.
Remediation and Prevention
If modern slavery or human trafficking is identified or reasonably suspected, Net Zero Gurus Limited will take appropriate action. This may include supporting affected individuals, escalating the matter to relevant authorities, suspending work with a supplier or subcontractor, requiring corrective action, reviewing procurement or project controls, and improving internal processes to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Continuous Improvement
Net Zero Gurus Limited will continue to review and improve its approach to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking. This statement will be reviewed at least annually or sooner where there is a significant change in the business, supply chain, legal requirements, or risk profile.
Conclusion
This statement reflects Net Zero Gurus Limited’s commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of its business and supply chains. We will continue to act responsibly, monitor relevant risks and promote fair, safe and ethical working practices.
